# Apps & Environments

> An app is a sandbox app or a production app. Its credentials select it. The URLs are the same for both.

Your **organization** owns **apps**. Each app is either a **sandbox app** or a **production app**, chosen when you create it. Each app has its own credentials, connections, workflows, redirect URIs, and webhooks. Sandbox and production apps are not linked.

## Sandbox vs production

To move to production, create a production app and set it up again. Nothing is copied from the sandbox app. See [Go Live](/v2/guides/getting-started/go-live).

## Endpoints

Both kinds of app use the same URLs. The credentials you send select the app.

## Saving changes

A save takes effect **immediately**, also on a production app's live traffic. There is no separate publish step and no staging copy, so test a change in a sandbox app first.
